Maxi dress + blazer outfit

I love the casual-chicness of a blazer thrown over a maxi dress.

While I've typically seen the outfit worn as an iteration that includes a slip-dress, I wondered at whether or not I could pull the look off with more of a shirt-dress style. And, ta-da — this is it.

I spotted this maxi dress from Le Chateau during a recent visit and loved it. Firstly, for the colour. And then, for the fit. It's the perfect piece for wearing to the office during these hot summer days. After bringing it home, I began to wonder about whether or not I could wear it with a blazer overtop.

After several tries styling it with a few different pieces, I settled on this old double-breasted style that I had hanging around from a previous season. I love the way the two colours play off one another. Plus, styling it this way ensures this dress will transition into the early fall, too.
