It's more like an adventure list ...
One of the items on said list was to make it up to Merritt for the Rockin' River Fest — complete with the full-on road trip and camping experience.
And I'm happy to report I ticked this item off the list in a MAJOR way last month when I wrangled my sister to join me, packed up a (borrowed) Ford Fiesta and hit Highway 1 for a girls' weekend of sun, fun and country music. Yee haw!
A few festival essentials including TOMS sunglasses, Turkish towel for sitting on and an instant camera! |
It held a big tent, two chairs, food, drinks, pillows, bedding ... and more than our fair share of outfit changes (because, obviously!). And my sister and I, of course. (Check out the photos below — it's legit amazing how much we crammed into the car! #propackers) :P
We took advantage of the car's touch-screen system to listen to tunes during the two-hour drive up – and mapped our travel route.
I was even able to check for local amenities en route (pulling over to the side of the road, of course, because safety first!) when I realized I forgot to pack paper towels and emergency toilet paper. Did I mention I'm still kind of new to the camping thing? Ha!
And the best part was how fuel efficient the Fiesta was. Unlike my F-150 pickup truck, which I use to tow my horses around and therefore uses a bit more gas, the Fiesta is a gas saver! We drove all the way from Langley to Merritt and back — a total of more than 450 kilometres — on less than $30 worth of gas! Double yee haw!

Made it to Merritt ... |
so we had to take a quick pit stop to enjoy the view — and take photos! |
And then we swiftly set up camp. See? I told you we fit a lot in the car! And it just all happened to be matchy-matchy orange gear, which I promise was NOT planned. Ha! |
Showing off my festival bracelet stack. |
Bright nails and Western belts are the perfect pairing for a country music festival, don't you think? |
Festival musts: Cool shades (via TOMS), a carryall backpack (via KISS) and a cool car. |
And ... final look for the Sam Hunt concert, wearing my favourite Le Chateau statment necklace. I told you I packed a lot of outfits! But a girl's got to have options, right? :P |
I can honestly say we had the BEST time that weekend and I can't wait to go back next year. With maybe one or two less outfits. But I can't make any promises.
