What it is: A complete beige wardrobe of nail colours (each sold separately!) from Sally Hansen — including the newly released Canadian exclusive, Nude Awakening (pictured at top left).
Beauty bonus: The new-and-improved formula is even better than before. No, really! This mass-market polish gives salon versions a run for their money.
Beauty bummer: Despite its best efforts, these polishes are still not entirely chip-proof when tested up against some serious hard labour (read: gardening).
Overall: Full confession: I hate waiting for my nail polish to dry. And the idea of waiting for the multi-step drying time of several coats? Don't even get me started.
That's why I've been a big fan of the Sally Hansen Salon Manicure collection since, well, since it pretty much debuted.
They are literally one step and done. No base coats. No top coats. Just a few easy sweeps and you have full-coverage, high-shine colour.
We tested these colours both with only one coat and with two, and were impressed with the performance.
Let me just say, I don't use my hands lightly. I'm constantly fishing in my bag for something, typing on my keyboard or outside with my horses. Basically, I'm a manicure's worst nightmare.
But I found these polishes really do stand up well to wear and tear. And when I need a mid-week refresh, I literally just sweep a quick coat over what I've already got on and, voila, fresh nails.
Would recommend? Yes, and I'm in love with the slightly muddy beige of the new shade, Nude Awakening. It's like the perfect nude for spring — not too dark, not too light ... it's JUST right.
