My hotel, the Parco Tirreno Suites just outside Rome's city centre, is within close walking distance of the main subway line (that costs only 1.50 euro for 100 minutes of riding!). It's so pleasant to be able to navigate around a city on reliable public transit. Well done, Rome.
Although I was completely exhausted from my 12+hours of travel, I decided to go check out the Trevi Fountain and the famed Via dei Condotti.
Bathed in the glow of the Roman sun, the stunning tourist attraction was buzzing with crowds clamouring to snap a picture beside the landmark fountain. It's a sight to see, for sure.
Needless to say, the cool, crisp shops along the famed street including Prada, Louis Vuitton and Salvatore Ferragamo were also full of fashion-loving tourists eager to spend their newly exchanged euros.
I'm going to need to get used to these crowds.
Before succumbing to my need for a nap, I grabbed my first insalata caprese and margherita pizza of the trip. These alone were well worth the tolerating the crowded streets of Rome. Delicious!
Check back for more photos and upadates from my trip to Rome!
